March 23, 2020

Dear Member,

We hope this notice finds you well considering the unprecedented time we’re all dealing with regarding COVID-19.  To adhere to Governor DeWine’s order to stay home the Benefit Office will be closed from March 24th to April 5th and will re-open on April 6th assuming the order is not extended.  During this difficult time Laura and myself want to assure you that we will be available and able to assist the needs of the membership.  The Office number, 440.934.4447 will be forwarded to our cell phones and we are setup to remote into our desktop computers from home to access relevant information.  You can also reach us via e-mail, Lou@ibew129bf.org or Laura@ibew129bf.org.  During this time we wanted to share some information and best practices with you in relation to the COVID-19 situation and Scheduled Appointments.

-        The Local 129 plan will pay for the Covid19 Tests at 100% (no member cost share)

-        Follow up care to treat a diagnosis of Covid19 would flow through the normal plan of benefits

-        It is clear that over the next several weeks, healthcare will be delivered differently as we are seeing some of the local hospitals and providers postpone elective surgeries and are encouraging patients to call first.

-        The local providers are focusing in on “Televisits” as we will call them, in an effort to support the “social distancing” initiatives through the United States.

-        We would encourage to call ahead of those appointments to discuss options available including a virtual visit.  While this is technically not Telemedicine, it is likely the changes coming in which our health care providers are going to deliver services for non-urgent care.

-        In addition, we understand changes will be coming for other health care professionals including dentists and eye doctors.  We would also encourage you to call before those appointments as well.

-        Each health care provider may handle this differently so a call before the appointment will help you navigate the potential options.

-        If you feel you may have symptoms of the Corona virus, we encourage you to call your Primary Care Doctor First, or the Nurse Line (888-912-0636) service that is part of our health plan.

-        Additionally, we have access to Teledoc (800-835-2362) through our MMO plan as another resource.

Please keep listening to your local news and radio stations for the latest updates. It is all our hopes this crisis is resolved quickly and timely so that we may return to our normal lives.  In the mean time we will do our best to meet the needs of the Membership.  Take Care and be safe – Lou Grasso, Administrator

The Benefit Fund Administrator, Lou Grasso, will be in the Office Monday and Tuesday from 10 AM to 5:00 PM and available during the lunch hour.  He will also be in the Office on Thursday from 10 AM to 4:00 PM and available during the lunch hour as well.  If you want an appointment to sit down with Lou to go over your Pension or health care you can contact the Benefit Office or call Lou's cell 440.315.0058 to schedule that meeting.
